1. Opening Message
Welcome to the Beach Handball Championships 2026 held in Zagreb:
- IHF Men's and Women's Beach Handball World Championships (23.06.2026. - 28.06.2026.)
- YAC17 EHF Beach Handball EURO 2026 (01.07.2026. - 05.07.2026.)
- EHF BH Championship 2026 (09.07.2026. - 12.07.2026.)
By joining this initiative, you become part of a shared sporting experience grounded in the values of inclusion, integrity, respect, and fair play. Your contribution supports not only the delivery of a high-quality event but also the promotion of sport as a tool for connection, cooperation, and community building.
Organized by Academic Beach Handball Club Zagreb (cro. Akademski klub rukometa na pijesku Zagreb), Croatian Handball Federation (cro. Hrvatski rukometni savez), European Handball Federation and International Handball Federation the Championships represent a platform where sport, volunteering, and civic engagement meet.
This is more than an event.
2. Introduction
The Beach Handball Championships 2026 will take place in Zagreb from June 23rd to July 12th, with volunteer engagement running from June 19th to July 13th.
Volunteers play a critical role in shaping the overall experience of participants and visitors. Through your conduct, you contribute to building team spirit, mutual trust, and a strong sense of belonging, while representing Zagreb as a responsible and welcoming host city.
First impressions matter. Professionalism, reliability, and respect are expected at all times.

3. Terms and Conditions
Participation requires the signing of a Volunteering Agreement (cro. Ugovor o volontiranju), which formalizes your rights, responsibilities, and expected standards of conduct. This agreement ensures accountability and reinforces the principle that volunteering is a structured and reliable commitment, essential to the successful delivery of the event.
Any breach of this Code of Conduct or the contractual obligations may result in immediate termination of participation, in line with established governance and safeguarding standards.
4. Expectations and Behaviour
All volunteers are expected to act in accordance with International sport values and ethical standards, including:
• Respect for all individuals, regardless of background, identity, or role
• Integrity in all actions and decisions
• Inclusion and equal treatment of all participants
• Fair Play as the guiding principle in all interactions
Core principles of the Beach Handball Championships 2026:
• “One for all and all for one.”
• There are no privileged roles: shared responsibility applies to all tasks
Professional conduct:
• Demonstrate initiative and responsible decision-making
• Communicate clearly, respectfully, and constructively
• Maintain composure and professionalism in all situations, including conflict
Environmental responsibility:
• Adhere to mandatory waste separation procedures
• Support sustainable practices throughout the event
Strictly prohibited:
• Alcohol consumption during duties
• Use of illegal substances
• Gambling activities
• Any form of discrimination, harassment, or abusive behaviour
Zero tolerance applies to violations of dignity, equality, and safety.
5. Your Role
Volunteering at the Beach Handball Championships 2026 is a form of active civic engagement, contributing to the public good through sport.
Minimum requirements:
• Minimum age: 14 years
• English proficiency: B1 level or higher
• Availability: Minimum 4 hours per day
Volunteer teams include:
• Scorekeeping and timekeeping
• Statistics
• Court maintenance
• Team guide
• Info points
• Doping control assistant
• Technical support
• Ceremonial team
• Joker team (operational support)
Volunteers are expected to perform their duties reliably and collaboratively.
In case of absence, immediate notification is required to ensure continuity of operations, including activation of the Joker team.
6. Training and Education
Participation in training is mandatory and forms part of the volunteer’s responsibility.
The training program includes:
• Practical, on-site simulations of match conditions
• Technical training (scorekeeping, timekeeping, statistics)
• Communication standards and inclusive interaction practices
Volunteers will also receive guidance on working respectfully with individuals with developmental disabilities, in line with inclusive sport principles.
An instruction booklet will be provided as well.
7. Uniform and Dress Code
Volunteers will be provided with:
• Three official volunteer T-shirts
• Two pairs of shorts
• A cap
• Gym bag
• Raincoat
• Official accreditation
While in uniform, volunteers represent the event and are expected to:
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance
• Refrain from smoking, consuming alcohol, cursing or any other form of misconduct
• Act in a manner consistent with the values of the event
8. Preparing for Your Duties
Punctuality and reliability are essential components of professional conduct.
• Volunteers must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their shift
• Delays or absences must be communicated immediately
• An SOS contact person must be registered for safety purposes
Respect for time reflects respect for the team, the event, and all participants.
9. Personal Belongings
Accreditation provides access to designated volunteer and staff areas with controlled entry.
However, ABHC Zagreb does not assume responsibility for personal belongings. Volunteers are expected to take reasonable care of their property.
10. Accreditation
The accreditation badge is both:
• A security and access control tool, and
• A symbol of participation and contribution
Volunteers must:
• Wear it visibly at all times
• Not sharing or transferring it
• Report loss immediately
11. Breaks and Refreshments
Volunteers are entitled to:
• One sandwich per day
• One drink per day
The volunteer area provides:
• Water, tea, and coffee
• Snacks
• Rest and social space
Breaks must be coordinated with supervisors to ensure operational continuity and fairness.
12. Health and Safety
The event takes place in an outdoor environment requiring proactive safety measures.
Volunteers must:
• Maintain adequate hydration
• Use sun protection and appropriate clothing
• Be aware of changing environmental conditions
Additional measures include:
• Night security personnel on-site
All risks, hazards, or incidents must be reported immediately. Volunteers are expected to respond responsibly to minor health or safety situations.
13. Confidentiality
Volunteers may have access to sensitive or non-public information.
They are required to:
• Maintain confidentiality at all times
• Avoid sharing internal information externally
Unauthorized photography, selfies or requests for autographs from other participants or guests, are not permitted during volunteers duties.
14. Privacy
Volunteers must respect the privacy, dignity, and professional boundaries of all participants.
Interactions with athletes, referees, officials, and guests must remain appropriate and respectful at all times.
15. Media Contact
Volunteers are not authorized to represent the event in communication with media.
All media-related inquiries must be directed to:
• The Media Team, or
• Event coordinators
16. Legacy
The Beach Handball Championships 2026 aim to build a sustainable and engaged volunteer community.
Participation includes:
